Beautiful place and Beautiful food. We had breakfast here and I can't wait to return for dinner or lunch. Delicious Guacamole, well seasoned, and I can feel the perfect fusion between Australian and Mexican Food. The service was great, and the waitress came to ask us a couple of times if we were okay. The food was on price and huge! We felt full and happy! Definitely will be back.

This might just be my favourite Mexican restaurant I have ever visited. Spent a week in Cairns and whilst there are a few Mexican options we stumbled upon Hecho En Mexico whilst walking the shoreline. We visited it on a quiet afternoon and again on a very busy Saturday whilst the Festival was taking place. Both times blew me away. In the afternoon everything came out quick and hot but there were no other customers. I was shocked when we came back on a packed out evening and received the same quick and great service. The staff were friendly and easy to approach. The food every time was a high standard and so tasty. I thought for the service and quality you get the prices were fair and have no issue recommending this to anyone!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely loved this place! The food was full of authentic Mexican flavor, and the cocktails were amazing .The staff were super friendly. Perfect spot for a night out with friends. Highly recommend!

We spent a few days in Cairns and stayed at a hotel right on the Esplanade. Hecho en Mexico was within walking distance, so we made an online reservation for dinner. The area was crowded, and even with a reservation, we had a short wait and were seated outside. There are no outdoor heaters, and while Cairns is warmer than most of Australia in winter, it was still cool—so bring a layer. The restaurant was busy and lively, and although the service was friendly, they were clearly stretched. One item we ordered didn’t arrive, and we chose not to follow up as we were almost finished with our meal. We appreciated the dedicated vegan menu, which made vegetarian ordering easier. We had a salad and a vegetarian bowl—both were decent, and the guacamole and chips was good. We also tried the margaritas, which they’re known for, and really enjoyed them. It’s a casual, high-traffic spot with a good location and options for plant-based eaters. If you’re staying nearby and want a relaxed Mexican meal, this is a convenient choice—just make sure to book ahead.

We visited Hecho En Mexican for lunch today. The venue was quiet, casual, and kid-friendly, which made it an easy spot for families. Service was a little slow to start, and one of the kids’ meals was forgotten, though staff fixed it quickly once we pointed it out. The portion sizes were generous. The wings had a nice spice but were very saucy, while the chimichanga—ordered at medium spice—had no real kick, which was disappointing. The fajitas, however, were full of flavour, and the chicken schnitzel with fries was satisfying. Overall, it was a solid meal but nothing to rave about. You do pay a bit for what you get, so for us, it’s a fair 3/5.
