First time in Chicago and decided to try Lee Mitchell’s because I’ve heard so many good things about it. Sometimes when restaurants are overrated in cities, it can be disappointing, especially after waiting 20 minutes outside in the cold. But by far the best omelette I have ever had in my life. I got the spinach special and added mushrooms in it, and I don’t know how they made it so flavorful, but it was amazing. Food came quickly. Service was super great all of the people and they were really nice. Even though there was a rush of a line to get in they quickly accommodated as fast as they could. Superb service unforgettable food so great. I would definitely come again—if it wasn’t closed on Monday and Tuesday I would’ve come all three days I was visiting!!! I went to Lou Mitchell’s in Chicago and the food was nostalgic in the best way — the pancakes were fluffy, the Greek and raisin toast freshly baked, and the omelette (with hash browns mixed in) felt satisfying. I did notice the bacon wasn’t as crisp as I like, and on a busy weekend the wait to be seated was longer than I expected. The atmosphere is warm, charming, and steeped in history; it really feels like an old-school diner with character. Overall, it was delicious enough that I’d recommend it, especially if you enjoy comfort breakfast food with a side of tradition. Heritage and the OG breakfast place of Chicago with the best service. Loved their veggie omelette-it was the fluffiest omelette I've ever had. We also tried their freshly squeezed grapefruit juice, coffee pecan roll and fries. Fries were a little too oily for my taste and the pecan roll was little too sweet but everything else was great.

Always a nice feel to sit in an old school diner, this was no exception. Portions were massive, I ordered the corned beef hash and it looked like they emptied out the entire can on my plate. I looked over at someone else that ordered the French toast and it was so thick that it was practically a small loaf of bread. Overall good experience but hope I don’t die of a heart attack later today.

I visited Lou Mitchell’s and immediately appreciated the cheerful, classic diner atmosphere—with bright windows and vintage charm. I ordered their omelet and house pancakes; both were hearty and flavorful, though I thought the pancakes could’ve been a bit lighter. The complimentary donut holes and Milk Duds while waiting were a delightful touch. Overall, it was a satisfying, nostalgic breakfast experience that felt true to Chicago’s diner tradition.
