Explora Watersports offer surf rental from our centre on the beach in Essaouira, if you want to catch the perfect wave and enjoy a moment of peace and tranquillity before you catch the next wave. Surf rental is for available for everyone as long as you can swim and are over 15 years old or are accompanied by an adult, ideally you should have had a lesson before so understand the basics of surfing at a minimum. Surf rental starts from 1/2 a day through to a full week rental. The rental includes your board and wetsuit as well as full use of our facilities (showers / changing room / wifi etc)

This half-day excursion takes us to Sidi Mbark, a small Berber village 35 km south of Essaouira. We walk trough dunes and on a lonesome beautiful beach till we reach a little cascade (which is in summer times dry, due to the drought Morocco is facing) and visit the old Marabout close by (residence for the spirit of a Saint or wise man). Here, the convergence of a large sand dune, a small river, and an imposing rock splendidly frames a lovely bay. We are invited to a local family for a traditional Berber tea ceremony at the end of the walk. There is the option to have a donkey with a guide on the walk (supplement), which is fun for kids to ride.

The landscape offers a rich interplay of green, blue and yellow. As it rests on the rocks, the Marabout that gave its name to the village speaks of former times. The hike now takes us southwards on winding paths through rolling hills. Along the way we encounter shepherds with goats and sheep. The trek provides panoramic views of the coastline and the Atlantic Ocean to the horizon. Walking above the bays we come upon stone houses where fishermen store their gear used to eke out a living from the sea. On the return hike we stop at a bay for a refreshing swim (optional). Then, surrounded by beautiful scenery, we enjoy a vegetarian picnic at the waterfall of Sidi Mbark. The walking time of 3.5 to 4 hours can be adjusted to your needs and desires. As we will be driving through the Argan zone, you have the option to visit an Argan oil cooperative and learn about the production of this beautiful oil - in all the world, a product unique to this area. Rural markets usually take place once a week. On Wednesdays in the village of Ida Ogourd locals do their weekly shopping and meet ‘n’ greet friends. This market is a friendly, family affair which takes place on a small hill in a fertile area only 20km southeast of Essaouira. Market-goers traditionally travel by donkey to get the goods they need for the forthcoming week: the “Donkey Parking Lot” surrounding the market is a sight to behold! At the market you find vegetables, fruits, spices, housewares, tools, and construction materials as well as various services that are offered: a blacksmith putting new horseshoes onto donkeys’ hooves; a welder repairing pans, kettles, and teapots; a cobbler resoling shoes. Of special note are barbers under tents - amusing barber shops, indeed! As we stroll through the market we pick up interesting details about farmers’ lives in this region accompanied by background information on Berber culture in the Haha province. The dromedaries are all controlled by one of our experienced guides and are very peaceful animals, so no previous experience is required.

We are an eco friendly workshop, using recycled materials such as copper and coins to create our unique designs. In the workshop we use traditional Moroccan methods and materials. We are a sponsor for a local charity called English Street Class where they have been providing free language lessons for the last nine years for everyone of all ages. Proceeds of the experience are donated to the charity.

Horse ride of three hours along the wide, magnificent beach of Essaouira. For the experienced riders there will be the possibility to enjoy some dream gallops in the sand. For beginners we have calm well trained horses which will ensure an unforgettable ride. At the end of the ride you will arrive at the camp made by Berber tents, where you will have a typical Moroccan diner and overnight in the tent. The next morning you will begin with the breakfast before you turn back to the Ranch.
