The Letaba restaurant is outsourced and managed by Tindlovu Restaurants, the same operator as in several other Kruger camps. The location couldn’t be better — overlooking the river, it’s one of the most beautiful settings anywhere in the park. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The interior still shows the old Mug & Bean design (they left in 2017) and really needs an update. We had dinner here on four consecutive nights. Every evening, many menu items were out of stock — half the appetizers unavailable, and out of 11 red wines, only 3 were left. The staff is friendly, but service is inconsistent and lacks attention. On the first night, we had to repeat our order several times before getting anything. The second evening went smoother, but by the third and fourth nights, orders arrived wrong, cold, or not as requested. When we mentioned it, the waitress just smiled and walked away. When the food actually arrived correctly and hot, it was tasty and well-prepared — so the kitchen can deliver good quality. But overall, the experience was frustrating. If you have the chance, you’re better off braaing at your rondavel and enjoying the view yourself rather than relying on this restaurant. Just returned from a fantastic two-week stay at Letaba Rest Camp, where we enjoyed several meals at the Tindlovu Restaurant—breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food was consistently delicious, with generous, hearty portions, and the staff were always attentive and welcoming. A highlight of our trip was our final evening, when we celebrated a birthday. The staff helped us pre-order a beautiful, well-priced chocolate cake, and when it was time, they brought it out—candles lit, singing in full chorus and dancing, even the kitchen staff joined in. It was a truly unforgettable moment and the perfect way to end a memorable holiday. Special thanks to our amazing waiter, Elton Mokoena, who went above and beyond throughout our visits, and to the talented pastry chef, Florida Mametja, for creating a show-stopping cake. Highly recommend! I barely give less than 4 stars,but.. The restaurant is nice, relatively fast service and friendly staff. I would even forgive getting rice as a side for steak instead of french fries. But the rumpsteak.. Thin. Tought. Cold when came to table.

Restaurant is in a prime location over looking the river. Saw lot of game in the river. The atmosphere was very friendly, and the staff were friendly too. Many options to choose from on the menu. However, service was quite slow, and the food came cold. They ran out of crocodile on the menu, which was their specialty. Overall, not a bad restaurant to go to, if you are coming through Letaba. Highly recommend their milkshakes.

The stunning view from the Tindlovu Restaurant at Letaba Rest Camp alone makes it a must-visit while in the area. It has beautiful views over the great Letaba river where you can see different animals, including elephants, coming for a drink. We recently visited the restaurant for drinks, which were enjoyable. While I can't comment on the food, the service was friendly, but could be a bit more efficient. Next time I'm at Letaba, I'll definitely return to try the food as well.
