Sundays call for comfort food and nothing beats a proper Sunday Roast ✨🗓️ At @thechowkitkitchenandbar, I tried their Classic Sunday Roast (avail from 12–4PM) and here’s what went down: 🥩 Curry Spice-Rubbed Beef – tender, juicy, with rich gravy & crispy potatoes. 🍗 Perchik Spice-Rubbed Chicken – golden, aromatic, and an incredible portion (A WHOLE BIRD) 🤯 👉 Both served with all the trimmings like yorkshire pudding, veggies & roast potatoes. 💵 RM98++ (beef) | RM68++ (chicken) | RM68++ (fish option also available!) And here’s the best part: a meal at @thechowkitkitchenandbar just isn’t complete without a stay @ormondhotels. Check them out as they’ve been named Malaysia’s Best Boutique Hotel by the World Travel Awards from 2021 till 2024! 🏆 If you ask me, this would def be the perfect way to spend your Sunday. Tucked in a warm and inviting space, this café exudes cozy charm with a laid-back, relaxing ambience, ideal for long chats with friends. What makes it stand out is its clever twist on local cuisine, offering a unique dining experience that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly new. Each dish is a delightful surprise, thoughtfully balanced, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavour. You can taste the care put into every element. The service was impeccable, attentive without being intrusive, the team here completes the experience with genuine hospitality. This is where comfort meets culinary creativity and worth returning to. Decided to try this out since I was staying at the hotel and had heard good things about the food. Went for the set lunch - kambing kuzi and sago gula melaka. The stew was excellently flavoured with tender lamb, pairing well with the basmathi rice and prawn crackers. Dessert was quite decent and I liked that the gula melaka was served separately so the sweetness could be controlled. Overall, its not cheap but I think its worth trying out if you are staying at the hotel or looking to have a business lunch in the area.

The staff, food, music, interior and overall vibes were amazing here! I would definitely visit again and even consider choosing the hotel here too. We had the prawn fritters and the sea bass curry with rice and an aubergine dish. Everything was great, I’d just love more seabass in the curry. Thanks for having us!

Have seen, heard and read about this place for quite some time but never had the chance to try so decided to drop by finally! They offer (not cheap!) lunch sets which came with a main + appetiser/dessert and a drink. I had their chicken rendang and chose the kerabu mangga appetiser over dessert. The set also came chrysanthemum tea. The food was alright - rice was well-cooked and came with some keropok, sambal terung, and few pieces of cucumber/tomato. Would be better if the portion of the sambal terung was more but not a deal-breaker. The ayam rendang was 😐, nothing extraordinary. I have had better and more flavourful rendang and this was slightly underwhelming, as it lacks the 'creamy' taste and flavour. The piece that I got was the chicken wing so less 'meat'. On the chicken plate was a very small portion of shredded cabbage and carrots which was a bit odd to me - since this is a Malay dish, some ulam might suit better. The kerabu mangga, on the other hand, was a bit of a surprise to me cos it came with a large piece of squid. Since they mentioned kerabu mangga, I thought it was just the mango - but the bowl (huge portion, btw) came with a piece of grilled squid, some cashews and raisins. Overall, it was on the sour side, but I could tolerate the taste. Squid was well-grilled and not rubbery, cooked just right and easy to chew. I don't take red meat, so would not have chosen the mutton soup but unsure how the pegaga salad would fare. Anyways, the place seemed quite popular and definitely is aesthetically pleasing, so good venue to take photos and post on social media.
