The best restaurant we tried on the island so far. The staff was super welcoming and very helpful. We had tuna fillet and cod fish. Both are great. The garlic bread was also better than others we had before. Afterwards we took a walk nearby . It was a perfect location. A restaurant off the beaten path with its own pool for €3/ pesos. If you were here hiking this is stick to your ribs take a long nap type of fairs. Many braised buttered and heavily starched entrees that will have you skipping dinner if there for lunch! If You visit the northern part of the Island you have to come to this wonderful "hidden" place. It is located in a golf and the view is beautiful. The service is excellent and the food is really tasty. I will recommend the trout tartare paired with the delicious fresh bread as starter. For the main curse, the smoked beef brisket and the smoked pork shank didn't dissapoint. If you still have room for dessert, you should get the Crème Brulée de Maracujá.

I had lunch today at Calhau de São Jorge and was warmly welcomed with outstanding hospitality. As a starter, I enjoyed a smoked trout tartare paired with fresh garlic bread – a truly excellent combination. For the main course, I had seabass served over a risotto-style base. Both were delicious, with the seabass cooked to absolute perfection. To finish, the passion fruit crème brûlée – freshly caramelized at the table – was a real highlight and an absolute treat for anyone with a sweet tooth. One of the finer dining experiences I’ve had on the island – definitely worth a detour.

We ended up eating here twice in 3 days! I got the smoked oxtail and the smoked brisket. Both were absolutely delicious and so was the chocolate brownie. Friendly service, beautiful setting and very reasonable prices. Highly recommended.
