Experience authentic Munich at this historic beer hall, rated 4.3/5. Enjoy delicious beer and a vibrant atmosphere. Discover classic Bavarian charm.
Bavarian restaurant of the venerable brewery, with wood-panelling, classic dishes & draught beer.
This well-loved Munich establishment offers a truly memorable experience, even if the food isn't the primary draw. Diners consistently praise the exceptional atmosphere, highlighting its historic charm and the delightful details that contribute to its unique character. The beer is, as expected, a standout, perfectly complementing the lively ambiance that many describe as akin to a mini Oktoberfest. While service aligns with typical German expectations and prices are reasonable, the genuine appeal lies in the palpable sense of place. This spot is particularly well-suited for groups, providing a vibrant setting to appreciate Bavarian tradition.

Not the best food, but the ambience is absolutely worth it. This historic, beautifully maintained restaurant is full of charm—every detail, from the vintage photos to the windows, adds to the experience. The beer, of course, is delicious. Service is fine, by typical German standards. Prices are reasonable, and overall, no regrets about coming here. It’s a great spot for the atmosphere alone Super busy spot that feels like a mini Oktoberfest tent! The vibe is definitely the main reason to come, lively, loud, and full of energy. The food itself is average at best, but if you’re here for the atmosphere, it delivers Everything I hoped for in a traditional Bavarian beer hall, warm, buzzing, and full of character. The vaulted ceilings strung with hops set the scene, and the food carried it through. I went for the Munich Sausage Salad after my waiter politely (and hilariously) tried to talk me out of it, saying it’s “something only Germans eat.” 😂 I stuck with my choice, and it turned out to be one of the best dishes I had on my entire trip through Bavaria, simple, tangy, and absolutely addictive. The other plates, from hearty sausages and spätzle to apple strudel with ice cream, only reinforced that this place takes its classics seriously. Between the friendly service, the atmosphere, and the food, it’s a spot I’d come back to without hesitation.

Honestly, this place deserves 0 stars if it were possible. We had a deeply uncomfortable experience at this restaurant in Munich. Upon arrival, we were led past the toilets into a dimly lit basement corner, where 3 out of 4 tables were occupied by Asian guests, including ours. The seating arrangement already felt questionable. When placing our order, the waitress repeatedly pressured us to order more drinks, despite us politely declining multiple times. Her tone was dismissive and pushy. We noticed she behaved similarly toward other Asian tables, showing clear bias and rudeness. This was not just poor service, as it felt targeted towards Asians. Reading other reviews afterward, we realised we weren’t alone in this experience. Please do avoid this place at all costs. Update: This is definitely not the wrong place, it was not a cellar but a corner in the lowest floor. To potential guests, dine at your own risk.

food itself was mediocre. in particular the "freshly baked" pretzel was cold and obviously at least several hours old. beer was good and plentiful! service was fine too, did not encounter the racism mentioned in some reviews.
