Great lunch with family in this classic restaurant. Beautiful place, its like history. We ordered the classics schnitzel (with mostaza) and sides. Everything was good. Nothing to highlight! Oh yes, make a reservation to go. It’s a tourist place no doubt about it, but the location is just right in front of the opera house so makes it easy and convenient. The service was good, typical german but in English. The food was good, nothing to complain. Their Kaiserschmarn though was the best I’ve ever had, and I’m not talking just soft chewy pancake like sweet but legit crust as well. So for that I give it a 5 Hahhaha Must try restaurant when you visit the Munich Residence! The chanterelles mushroom salad is delicious and the Bavarian cream is lovely! We really enjoyed our lunch here! Thank you!

It’s a tourist place no doubt about it, but the location is just right in front of the opera house so makes it easy and convenient. The service was good, typical german but in English. The food was good, nothing to complain. Their Kaiserschmarn though was the best I’ve ever had, and I’m not talking just soft chewy pancake like sweet but legit crust as well. So for that I give it a 5 Hahhaha

Must try restaurant when you visit the Munich Residence! The chanterelles mushroom salad is delicious and the Bavarian cream is lovely! We really enjoyed our lunch here! Thank you!

The Kaiserschmarrn at Spatenhaus an der Oper delivers classic Bavarian comfort, though the caramelization was overdone, detracting from the ideal texture. The accompanying plum compote brightened the sweet pancake and proved to be a harmonious pairing. Outdoor seating is first class—ideal for watching city life pass by—while the coffee was excellent, albeit expensive. However, Munich offers better Kaiserschmarrn options elsewhere.
