We boldly walked in on a Friday night for our anniversary and were seated at the bar after an hour wait - not too bad! You go for the atmosphere and the service, it was lovely. Drinks were delicious and we especially loved the squab and the chocolate soufflé (pictures don’t show how big it is, we couldn’t finish it! Despite our best efforts). I might get hate for this but the burger was just all right for my tastes. I like cheeseburgers and don’t know enough about beef to appreciate the dryagedness🤷 we would 100% go back for a special occasion. I can confirm that the rumors are true: this is, without a doubt, the best burger in NYC. It is a fantastic, juicy burger that is well-seasoned. Their onion soup is also a standout dish, and I highly recommend ordering it as a shared appetizer. The restaurant is small, so making reservations is essential! The interior is beautiful and has a lively, bustling atmosphere. The service is excellent. The prices are a bit on the higher side, but the experience is worth it! I had a late reservation, so some of the specials were gone. Didn’t find out until I ordered them (potato gratin,) totally fine! They offered me something similar off menu so I took it. But what arrived felt thrown together and rushed. It was just bland cooked potatoes. They were kind and took it off my bill. The grilled oysters were very good and the pasta special with truffle was amazing. They did a last call on soufflé when I sat down so I was kinda forced to decide if I wanted it or not. Glad I did because I devoured that whole thing solo. Overall, the experience felt kinda off for how much I was spending ($150 out the door.) The food was good but I won’t be singing its praises. For that kind of money I’d rather go somewhere else.

One of the best burgers in New York City! We didn’t have a reservation and ended up waiting about an hour or two on a Friday night, finally sitting down for dinner around 11 PM. Even that late, the restaurant was still buzzing, intimate, packed, love the dark lighting , very romantic and full of that classic New York energy. The service was a solid 10/10, attentive and friendly without being rushed. Of course, we ordered their famous burger, and it truly lived up to the hype .perfectly juicy, fresh, and flavorful. Despite the wait, the whole experience was absolutely worth it. We had a lovely evening and will definitely be back.

Really good classic NYC restaurant. A bit hard to get a reservation if you are not a regular but not impossible. I ordered the french dip sandwich while my wife ordered the burger. I had my eye on the steak au frites but that will wait for another day. Fast service
