Beautiful restaurant with great service and generally good food. Loved our starters if Ceviche and Cheese with Grasshopper sauce, best dishes of the meal. Cocktails were great too. Mains and Desserts were good but not the best. The manager here took very good and proactive care of us, which made this a great experience for us. Look, it’s fine — but for the price I am guaranteeing you there are 20 better places to go within walking distance. Food was mid and the service was absent. Our server was a nice, it just seemed like the restaurant vibes didn’t prioritize service. We had a selection of food: Ceviche de ajo blanco — seabass was fine, but overall bland and boring. Taco de lengua — best from our choices, but again, boring even if flavourful. Guacamole — flavourless for the most part. No hint of citrus or salt or … anything? The hot sauces they brought were all mild at best. Ribeye + Papa Asada — ridiculously fatty cut, and again under seasoned. The Papa Asada tasted too rich, and again underseasoned! This place hates seasoning. Music playing in the background was 2011s-era beach house music. The other guests all just looked bored and sad. Lol, I don’t know what was up, but everything was off about this place. If I had to sum it up, it felt like we were on an overpriced cruise ship, but on land. The photos look waaaaay better than the food tasted. The place is super nice, the tree and plants in the center of the patio are beautiful! We asked for fideo sip up which was delicious and the tostones with mole a plate you should try if you come, the mix of flavors was so armonius! The the zarandeado fish was really good and the tortillas today with grasshoppers and guacamole was surpridingly unexpected! The drink was good I liked the flavor but not the topping 🙈 On the house they have us a delicious sample of vainilla bread with mango topping OMG! It should be on the menu!

Great food, beautiful spot, but not cheap Asador Bacanora is one of the better dining experiences in Oaxaca if you want something upscale but still rooted in local flavor. The food is excellent — especially the chamorro with mole and the rib-eye tacos. Presentation and flavors show real attention to detail. The service is friendly and professional, and the restaurant has a calm, elegant feel tucked away in Barrio de Jalatlaco. A couple of things to keep in mind: prices are high for Oaxaca standards, and portions lean toward fine-dining sizes. Also, if you’re sitting outdoors, bring mosquito repellent — that’s a real issue some evenings. Overall, I’d definitely recommend it for a nice night out or a special occasion. It’s not a budget spot, but it delivers on quality and experience.

This has been the best food I’ve had on my whole trip to Oaxaca. It spoiled my taste buds because I will always compare all food to this. I ordered the ceviche de tamarindo and the tacos de lengua, and they also included complimentary chips and salsa, which were very delicious.
