5* for an overall great experience, service was truly fantastic here, operating at a very high level. Would recommend any one visiting Oaxaca to give this a try, just go in without expectations and you'll love the experience. We loved the 3 moles with fish, and the roasted pumpkin. Cocktails were fantastic too. Desserts could be better, the corn cake being a bit too dry and hard. 3.5 Stars We had an ok evening at Tierra del Sol but it was far from perfect. Cons; It started off shaky, the organization of being seated for a tortilla and salsa tasting prior to heading up to the restaurant was very poorly executed. We were seated in kind of a holding area, waiting for room at the counter to become available and frankly we felt completely ignored. We sat there for 10 mins with not a glance from any staff members, while people seated around us were offered drinks and interacted with staff. What felt particularly rude was that a couple who entered the restaurant at the same time as us were told that they couldn't be seated because they didn't have a reservation. They went upstairs to look at the restaurant, came back down, seated themselves next to us and were being served drinks, while we, who had reservations, were still sitting there being completely ignored!!!! The whole tortilla/salsa before dinner was a nice idea, incredibly poorly executed. Pros; The restaurant upstairs was very attractive, our table had a lovely view. Our waiter was friendly, informative and engaging. The food was typical Oaxacan flavors, nicely presented. However .... The bone marrow was ok but surprisingly bland for marrow. The three generations mole was lovely but the turkey it came with was dry. Cocktails were nice, the Mexican Chenin Blanc we had was huge - very different than a light French Chenin Blanc. It was an interesting tipple. We would probably not return. One of the very few Michelin Star restaurants I have been too. I thought it was absolutely fantastic. I had the tasting which seems to change every month or so. As someone who is not a big fan of tomatoes, I was pleasantly impressed with the appetizer which contained multiple native tomato species from the Oaxaca area. The Maíz Blanco soup with pork in it was absolutely amazing. My only disappointment was that they were out of the other soups and I could not do a tasting. The Valentina cocktail was also amazing and a fun drink to order with the butter wash and beetroot topping. The ambience is also great as they have a large outdoor roof with a great view of the city. Would highly recommend!

MAKE TIME FOR THIS RESTAURANT! In the last 7 days, we have had lots of excellent food in Oaxaca, but today's meal was by far the best. I highly recommend the Chileatole and the Apple Mole. Simply devine. The waiters knew the food well and took time to explain the ingredients and foundations of each course. The cocktails and deserts were equally delicious, and the view is unmatched.

Indeed, the menu could be a bit challenging since you just have the ingredients listed and not the description on how it would be prepared. However, the waitress was super kind and explained all the dishes that we were curious about. Food is delicious and great atmosphere. Would go there again for sure. We had the 3 moles de frijol and tamal chile relleno. Loved both!
