We visited Xin Yee Restaurant on our last night in Penang (since many places are closed on Mondays) and were really glad we did. We arrived around 8pm and were warmly welcomed and seated right away by the friendly owner. He personally recommended a few dishes and even advised us not to over-order, which we appreciated. We ended up with a stir-fried vegetable dish, salted tofu, prawns, and curry fish, all in small portions. The food came out quickly, and we were pleasantly surprised by how generous the portions were despite being called small. Everything was delicious and very well-cooked. The owner checked in on us during the meal and again when we were settling the bill, which made the whole experience feel very personal. Prices were very reasonable and much cheaper compared to Chinese restaurants in Kuching. I highly recommend this restaurant for its tasty food, fair prices, and welcoming service. I would definitely come back again on my next trip to Penang. Recommend to the restaurant by my colleague and finally have a chance to try yesterday. Recommend to the restaurant by my colleague and finally have a chance to try yesterday. Food serving speed is pretty fast and nothing short of amazing. Love the fish soup and most of their dishes were pretty well done and doesn’t really cost much. This place is fine with byo if you want to bring your own wine. Indonesia prawns will definitely worth a mention as six big prawn only cost RM25 with very awesome taste. Will be back to try most of their food in future.

The best dining experience I’ve had in Penang so far! Every dish was flavorful and well-prepared, but the salted tofu truly stood out, perfectly seasoned, rich in texture, and absolutely addictive. It’s a must try for anyone visiting the place.

Awesome restaurant just off the main drag serving delicious traditional food! The Kung Pai chicken was exceptional and the Salted Egg Tofu was spot on! Service was very good and I believe it was the owner who gave us the excellent recommendations.
