Celebrated my birthday here and I must say, it was a fantastic experience. From the very moment we were greated by the owner until we left we had such a feeling of being welcome, being appreciated, and on top of that, the food was simply amazing. The owner was so attentive, taking the time to explain the menu and the history of the recipes - and not to us, he somehow managed to give every guest his undivided attention at the same time! The chestnut bread, the octopus, the Terra A Terra wine - I almost don't want to recommend a specific dish because it's all good, go with the one you feel you'll like the best, don't be afraid to try something new. It's hard to put into words the way we felt, so I'll just say: Thank you for a fantastic evening! I'm a little late writing this review (life happens) but it's a must I do so. My son and I had the distinct pleasure to dine at this gem of a restaurant in Porto back at the end of March. It truly was the most memorable dining experience we ever had. If I could best describe it, as words don't do it justice, it's like an exquisite dance with every move perfectly choreographed. It's a small place (I believe 6-8 tables) run by a lovely couple. The husband, Alvaro, is waiter and the wife, Luisa (hopefully remembered this correctly) is the chef. And oh my, is she an amazing chef! Every dish was just as perfectly orchestrated as the service which lured you into a unique experience of the senses. My favorite dish was the octopus, but all dishes were fabulous! What a sweet and warm couple and what an amazing place! I cannot wait to return with hubby and our other son as well so they can enjoy this wonderful culinary experience as well! This was one dining experience I will always remember. This food was exceptional! The cheese selection, bread, and olives were all prepared with flavors curated by the owners of this small restaurant. The main dish was beautifully presented and tasted even better. However, the most exceptional part of the evening was interacting with the owners. They obviously love preparing each dish and offering a Portuguese experience. We will definitely choose this restaurant again.

Essential dining when in Porto. I thought I knew what good food tasted like until I ate here. I thought I knew how to cook until I ate here. Chef's selection and skills coupled with the expert service from her husband are unrivalled. We were left speechless by the dinner. Michelin where are you?

✨ Dama Pé de Cabra: Where Flavor Meets Friendship in Porto, Lisbon If you’re looking for a place that feels less like a restaurant and more like stepping into someone’s enchanted living room—Dama Pé de Cabra is it. Tucked away in Porto, Lisbon, this tiny gem seats just 16, but its warmth could fill a cathedral. I arrived at 7 PM sharp and was greeted by Alvaro, who knew me instantly. Not in the creepy way—more like the “old friend you haven’t seen in years” kind of way. He opened the door himself (yes, you ring a bell to enter), and from that moment, I knew I was in for something special. Alvaro is tall, joyful, and treats every guest like they’re the guest of honor. He walked me through the menu with the enthusiasm of a man who genuinely wants you to fall in love with your dinner. Although the menu is designed for sharing, I came solo—and not once did I feel like an afterthought. Alvaro curated a solo-friendly experience that still delivered the full flavor journey. Starters? Cheese and sausage tasters, each lovingly explained—where it came from and why it matters. This was paired with cornflower with chestnut bread that tasted like Christmas in a bite. Main? Traditional pork dish with side salad. Dessert? Douro cake with a scoop of lemon ice cream, because Alvaro insisted. And thank goodness he did. The best part? It wasn’t just the food. It was the feeling. As a solo traveler, I’m used to being rushed, overlooked, or given the table next to the bathroom. Not here. Alvaro treated me like a table of two, never rushed me, and even encouraged me to linger and savor. I stayed over two hours, and not once did I feel anything but welcome. Later, I learned that Alvaro and his wife (the chef!) run this magical place together. And it shows. Every detail—from the ringing bell to the curated bites—feels personal, intentional, and full of heart. Dama Pé de Cabra isn’t just a meal. It’s a memory. Go hungry. Go curious. And if you’re lucky, Alvaro will open the door for you too.
