About This Tour
Join a warm and local walking experience in Bizen, Okayama—home to Bizen ware, one of Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns. The tour is led by the wife of a local potter. In the quiet pottery town of Imbe, you’ll walk through historic streets where traditional climbing kilns and old-style houses still remain. We’ll visit key cultural spots such as the ruins of a centuries-old kiln and Amatsu Shrine, a place historically cherished by Bizen potters. If you're interested and our schedule aligns, I’ll also guide you to my husband’s working pottery studio and gallery. Midway through the tour, we’ll take a relaxing break at UDO Café, a local favorite where you can enjoy a drink served in handcrafted Bizen pottery. (Please note: the cost of drinks is not included in the tour fee.) The tour is available in English and is family-friendly—perfect for those traveling with young children or anyone seeking a slower, more personal experience of rural Japan.
