After picking up the participants in Coimbra, we went to the village of Mealhada to visit one of the oldest wineries in the region. We walk through the tunnels where thousands of bottles age while we hear in detail about the sparkling wine production process. After the visit, we will continue on a panoramic tour where we will pass through several wine estates, where we will stop at a viewpoint of the "Maria Gomes" swing to be able to observe some vineyards. Our adventures are not just made of Nature and proof of this is our visit to the historic village of Monsanto In 1938, this was considered the most Portuguese village in Portugal and was awarded the silver rooster that it still proudly displays today on its Lucano tower. In this village everything seems magical, its location on the slope of a granite outcrop meant that the village's inhabitants built houses using the huge boulders as part of the housing structure, often defying the laws of physics. At the top we find the Monsanto castle which still shows its grandeur and the ingenuity of the Portuguese people who built it, also becoming known in recent years for being one of the settings for the famous series "Game of Thrones" All of this will always be accompanied by breathtaking landscapes and unforgettable displays of nature.

Competing with Sintra as one of the most charming places in Portugal, Bussaco (or Buçaco) is a treasure located in the country's central region, only 30 minutes away from Coimbra! It's now applying to become a World Heritage Site by UNESCO! Bussaco's National Forest is a Protected Area planted by the Order of the “Carmelitas Descalços”, to whom these lands had been granted – at the beginning of the 17th Century – in order for them to build a spiritual retreat that included a convent. In 1888, the Portuguese Crown initiated the construction of a Royal Palace at the same location as the convent, which had to be partially demolished in order to make way for the newer Neo-Manuelino styled building. During this half day tour we will contemplate the beauty of this site while walking along one of the many trails of Bussaco's National Forest. After arriving at our destination, we will learn about the existing buildings and its history as well as the local flora and fauna!

World Heritage classified sites in Portugal: Tomar, Batalha and Alcobaça! Also known as the “Templar City”, in Tomar we will unveil the charms of the “Mata dos Sete Montes”, the Castle and Convent of Christ (listed by UNESCO as World Heritage since 1983)! There will also be time for a quick stop so that you can enjoy a tasty meal at one of the many restaurants located in the typical commerce streets on the banks of Nabão River. In Batalha we will visit the Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitória (also known as Mosteiro da Batalha, classified by UNESCO as World Heritage since 1983)! Then we will be visiting Alcobaça and its beautiful Monastery, one of the most imponent testimonies of Circestience architecture in all of Europe (classified by UNESCO since 1989).

This activity is special for the unique experience of going down the Mondego River, the largest in Portugal, between the Carvoeira dam (Penacova) and Praia Fluvial dos Palheiros / Zorro (Coimbra), on a 12km route. It stands out as the biggest tourist attraction in the country, perfect for kayaking beginners. With stunning natural surroundings, full of vegetation and birds, it also offers small rapids in the summer for an exciting touch. At 1pm, a break for food on the riverbank, providing moments of relaxation and contact with nature. Despite the vestiges of human presence dating all the way back to the prehistoric era, it is only during the Medieval Ages that populations started to settle on this territory. Founded by the Romans as "Aeminium", Coimbra buzzes with life till today. We'll gather downtown near the river, where the music of street performers meets the daily hustle of one of Coimbra's most iconic streets. Surrounded by small streets that weave in and out of the main road, you'll learn about the churches and the stories they keep within their walls. We'll get to know these places more intimately, and we'll stop for a coffee or a snack along the way. Up the hilly way we go to take in view and get acquaintance with the University, academic culture in Coimbra, and its many quirks. After getting to know the University we'll make our way just down the road by the impressive Roma aqueduct, and enter the country's most important botanical garden where you'll learn of its origins and relevance that it still holds today. The plaza where the students gather in the late afternoons, by entrance of the magical Mermaid Garden, awaits you at the end of your journey. - What are you waiting for?

Journey to the rural world, natural country side with tasting of local products. We traveled through the Serra da Lousã, very close to and around Coimbra, in search of ancient customs, rural routines, we enjoyed the local gastronomy, we admired the mountain villages of Cerdeira, Candal, Talasnal and Casal Novo built with schist stone. We will go to extremes, visit Arouce Castle and the natural beach Nª Srª Piedade at the foot of the mountain and climb to the highest point of Trevim to balance on the popular Lousã swing. Lunch will be served in a typical restaurant with local cuisine, chanfana (goat meat cooked slowly in a wood-fired oven). There are other options if you don't like this typical dish. To end the day, there will still be space for a tasting of PDO sheep and goat cheese, olive oil, bread and wine in the cheese capital, Rabaçal. After visits and tastings, we return to the starting point.

After hotel pickup in Coimbra, we take direction to activity start in Viseu. Day dedicated to bicycle touring on an old railway branch that has 130 years of transport history and has now been converted into a bike-friendly Ecopista. It is an experience with a linear route in self-guide mode, 49.2 km long, almost always descending, crossing orchards, vineyards and part of the route, next to the magnificent Rio Dão ending in Santa Comba Dão, where we collect the participants and we return to Coimbra. Discover all the old Ecopista stations and stops, of which Torredeita Station stands out with an old locomotive. The views are magnificent, the northern area is abundant in cork, chestnut and oak trees, where you will also find some fields of cultivation and vineyards.
