Founder Evrol “Blackie” Black started Little Ochie in 1989 with a single fishing boat and a commitment to traditional Jamaican flavors. Today, the open-air restaurant remains famous for jerk lobster, steamed snapper, and a laid-back vibe that travelers happily road-trip miles to experience.
Evrol “Blackie” Black launched Little Ochie with one boat pulled onto the beach, serving grilled fish to passing travelers. Word spread quickly, and more boats turned into dining huts, creating today’s seaside compound.
Despite its growth, the restaurant still buys directly from nearby fishers and keeps the focus on authentic Jamaican preparations passed down through generations.
